Big Hearts Under the Big Sky
Our Mission

Where adventure meets heart.

High-quality outdoor adventures with MOGA outfitters, at no cost to those who serve and the children who overcome.

The Big Hearts mission is simple yet powerful: to provide premium outdoor experiences with MOGA member outfitters at absolutely no cost to those who've given so much, our military heroes who've served our country with distinction, first responders, and brave children facing life-threatening illnesses, along with their entire families.

What sets us apart

While many organizations focus on individuals, we embrace the whole family. Healing, celebration, and adventure are best shared together. Since 2007, we've partnered with the Montana Outfitters & Guides Association (MOGA) to deliver tailored, world-class adventures that create lasting memories and provide much-needed respite for families during challenging times.

The power of giving

Big Hearts Under the Big Sky was founded in 2007, with our first trips offered in 2008. Montana's outfitters and guides have been donating trips to deserving individuals for decades. Today, Big Hearts is the premier organization of its kind because of our commitment to working with the best guides available.

Through Big Hearts, more than $1.75M in trips have been donated to 110+ deserving families, while the cost to the family is, and always has been, $0.

How it works

Each Big Hearts family is paired with a licensed and insured MOGA member outfitter based on the recipient's hopes and needs. This can be a hunt of a lifetime, a relaxing stay at a mountain lodge, a horseback riding adventure, a fishing excursion, a backpacking trip, or so much more. Trips typically last 4 to 7 days and are supported and documented by the Big Hearts Ambassador assigned to the family. On the last night, Big Hearts hosts a special celebration dinner in recognition of the participant and family's service and resilience.

Leadership

Big Hearts Under the Big Sky operates under the Montana Outfitters & Guides Education Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The program is guided by the MOGA Board of Directors, the Big Hearts National Board of Advisors, and our program staff. Meet the team →
